From November 1, 2024, to January 10, 2025, Refresco presents the group exhibition “Alado”, organized by the gallery with a curatorial text by Daniela Avellar. The show features works by seven contemporary Brazilian artists, ranging from painting to sculpture, that explore relationships between different temporalities. At the same time, the works encourage a break from the linearity of time and history. This selection proposes a journey through different temporal layers, like a winged being capable of traversing distinct dimensions in search of fragments, seeking new meanings from what has been forgotten, suppressed, or hidden.

The exhibition includes works by Estevan Davi, Fátima Aguiar, Gabriel Ribeiro, Gabriella Garcia, Felipe Suzuki, Lucas Milano, and Renato Rios. The diverse poetics present in the group show align with the exhibition’s curatorial scope: Estevan Davi’s fresco in concrete, for example, acts as a reverse archaeology, re-signifying fragments of history, while Gabriella Garcia’s works revisit classical imagery and propose new readings for the contemporary. Felipe Suzuki and Lucas Milano, in turn, explore emptiness and mystery in their paintings, suggesting a temporal suspension. Renato Rios’ work, with its seven-pointed stars, opens temporal portals, while Fátima Aguiar’s silver stalactite creates a symbolic connection between natural formations and urban architecture. Gabriel Ribeiro’s work, meanwhile, uses processes already happening in the world, such as the imprint of sunlight as a vector for image production, creating a relationship with the time of the process itself.

“Alado” invites the viewer to destabilize traditional, rigid, and linear historiography, while also urging them to question the concept of progress. In this way, the visitor can explore a broader range of poetic possibilities where the past intertwines with the present and future, like an archaeologist of virtualities, excavating layers of earth and air in search of whispers and mythical fragments.
